Packaging & storage
Packaging
180 kg steel drum (216.5 L), 1000 kg IBC tank or bulk by tanker
Storage
Store in original sealed packaging in a cool, dry, well-ventilated environment, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and ignition sources. Keep isolated from acids, oxidising agents and copper/copper alloys. Storage temperature must be between +5°C and +30°C. Since it absorbs carbon dioxide to form carbonates, the packaging must be kept tightly closed.
Shelf Life
12 months from date of manufacture

Frequently asked questions
What is DMEA (dimethylethanolamine) and what is it used for?
DMEA (dimethylethanolamine, CAS 108-01-0, C4H11NO) is a tertiary amino alcohol with min 99.7% purity. It is used for pH neutralisation in water-based paints and varnishes, as a polyurethane catalyst, epoxy hardener, corrosion inhibitor and a pharmaceutical synthesis intermediate.
In what packaging is DMEA supplied and is it ex-stock?
DMEA is offered in 180 kg steel drums (216.5 L), 1000 kg IBC tanks or in bulk by tanker. KORKİMYA delivers ex-stock from domestic inventory, providing the advantage of local stock against Chinese imports. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Is DMEA KKDİK-registered and is an SDS provided?
Yes. DMEA is offered KKDİK-registered and a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) is supplied with the product. Conditions such as cool/dry storage, isolation from acids and copper alloys, and storage at +5 to +30 °C are detailed in the SDS.
How can I get a sample and a quote for DMEA?
A sample and a price quote (invoicing available in local currency) for DMEA can be obtained from KORKİMYA. A certificate of analysis (CoA) and TDS are shared on request.
What does DMEA do in water-based paints?
DMEA is used for pH neutralisation and stabilisation in water-based paints, varnishes and metallic-pigmented coating systems. It also serves as a catalyst in polyurethane production, a hardener in epoxy resins and a corrosion inhibitor.
How should DMEA be stored, and why must the pack stay tightly closed?
Store DMEA in its original sealed packaging in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place at +5 °C to +30 °C. It absorbs carbon dioxide to form carbonates, so the packaging must be kept tightly closed. Keep it isolated from acids, oxidising agents and copper/copper alloys, and away from heat and ignition sources.
Under which UN number and hazard class is DMEA transported?
DMEA ships under UN 2051. Its hazard class is 8(3): corrosive and flammable.
Which test methods are used for DMEA purity?
Dimethylethanolamine content is at least 99.7%, measured by ISO 11402 (titrimetric). Water content is at most 0.1% (ISO 760, Karl Fischer), colour at most 30 Hazen (ISO 6271) and density at 20 °C is 0.885 - 0.890 g/cm³ (ASTM D4052). Total impurities are at most 0.3% and vinyloxyethanol at most 0.003%.
