Calcium hypochlorite must be stored in the manufacturer's packaging in unheated, well-ventilated, closed warehouse areas protected from atmospheric precipitation and direct sunlight, in stacks. Drums must be stored in an upright position. Stack height shall not exceed three rows. Stacks shall be at most 2 m wide, with at least 1 m of passage between stacks. Stacking up to four rows of product packaging is permitted by agreement with the customer.

What is calcium hypochlorite and where is it used?
Calcium hypochlorite (Ca(ClO)2) is a white or slightly coloured granular product containing, depending on grade, between a minimum of 55% and 70% active chlorine. It is used as an oxidising agent in various chemical processes; for the neutralisation of cyanide-containing wastewater and waste gases in gold mining; and for the disinfection of drinking and swimming pool water and public spaces.

It is supplied in galvanised steel drums, thin-walled steel drums, lidded steel barrels and polyethylene barrels, with polyethylene film inner bags (UN 3485).
