What is Softwood Crude Tall Oil (CTO) and where is it used?
Softwood CTO (CAS 8002-26-4) is a bio-based, complex mixture of rosin acids, fatty acids and neutrals. It is a dark viscous liquid with a characteristic resinous odour. It is used as a distillation feedstock for TOFA, rosin and pitch; in biofuel (co-combustion, HVO/SAF), emulsifiers and surfactants, tyre processing, adhesives and coatings, mining flotation, and soap and detergent production.
